Day Without Art 95

Men of the World

Mark Alice Durant of Syracuse, New York and Matthew Wilson of Chicago are Men of the World and perform for three days starting Wednesday May 7 in downtown Cleveland. Durant is an assistant professor of Art Media Studies at Syracuse University and Wilson is an instructor of Performance Art at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Their performances at the Festival include men exchanging fluids, 9 positions and on the final day, they recruit locals to do an ordinary but powerful gesture simultaneously. They bring performance into the public realm with their simple actions to question the link between the individual and the communal; the political and the poetic.
