CHIMPANZEE Productions of La Jolla, California is a collaborative group led by Thomas Allen Harris whose short films have won him several awards including a Golden Gate Award at the San Francisco International Film Festival. On Friday May 2 they bring Encounter at Intergalactic Cafe, their multi-media television spectacle, to the Colonial Arcade Ballroom. Encounter... is a meeting of African ritual and technology. Possessed by the spirit of the crossroads, Harris is videotaped by three antropologists and altered projections are fed back to the audience. Encounter reveals the contradictions between interpretations and actual events.
