Shannon Cochrane
On Thursday May 8 Toronto's Shannon Cochrane, who
performed in last year's Open, brings her cross between the work of a secretary
and that of an artist in I'm sorry, not everything I make is about you
to the Colonial Arcade Ballroom. Shannon Cochrane is a graduate
of Ontario College of Art and has been presenting her performances since
1994. Sitting at a miniature desk in a tiny chair, Cochrane makes carbon
copies sealed in envelopes for each member of the audience. She washes
the originals and hangs them to dry on a clothesline. Burden, labor and
(mis)communication are central to her task/performance.
