Janet Grau

"long since familiar"

Janet Grau, a conceptual performance artist form Columbus, Ohio, first performed her piece "long since familiar" as her MFA thesis at Ohio State University in 1995. She performs in an installation environment consisting of an old iron frame bed hanging from the ceiling, a huge mound of dirt,
22 ladies slips, and bedsheets hung from a clothesline. By employing wideo projections and live performance, she presents the audience with two conflicting perspectives, the voyeuuristic video of a woman undressing and the live reality of her pshing lingerie through a matress filled with dirt.
