How The Festival Works
The Performance Art Festival is an annual showcase for emerging and established performance artists from around the world. The open structure invites all performance artists to participate by contacting the PAF and completing an application form. Send contact info to: PAF, 1365 Webb Road, Cleveland, Ohio 44107, 216-221-6017, or e-mail at info@performance-art.org. All applications are reviewed by a regional and national panel of constituent representatives who recommend the Featured artists. These artists are awarded an artist fee, a travel stipend, accommodations and the opportunity to present special events in the community. Invitational artists are also recommended by the panel and are offered an honorarium and invited to present work at the Festival. All remaining artists are offered a stipend and invited to participate in The Performance Open.
Based on the issues discussed in the essay "Death of the Curator," the panelists for the 1996 Performance Art Festival are made up of representatives of various constituent groups critical to the Festival: performance artists, audience, media, technical artists, staff.
