Text From Photograph: Two of the three great coal dumping machines that will serve the new lakefront dock being built jointly by the Baltimore and Ohio and the New York Central Railroads are shown here. One of them is engaged in a test loading operation, as the construction work on the other is completed. Electrically operated, each machine is capable of dumping loaded hopper cars at a rate of one per minute, to fill the holds of lake vessels destined for Canadian and western U. S. lake ports.
